Notes: An original warrior print by Utagawa Yoshiiku from the celebrated Heroes of the Taiheiki series, depicting Sakai Masahisa in the midst of fierce combat. Shown gripping a long spear while surrounded by flying arrows and fallen enemies, the composition captures the chaos and intensity of battle with remarkable energy. Richly detailed armor, expressive facial carving, and bold color contrasts reflect Yoshiiku’s close inheritance of the dynamic musha-e tradition established by his teacher Kuniyoshi.
