Condition: Very good vintage condition. Light age toning and scattered foxing to the sheet margins, typical of the period. Image remains clean with strong color.

Notes:
One of the qualities that sets this print apart is the quiet tension it creates through space rather than action. A sparse interior is assembled from crisp architectural planes and a handful of enigmatic objects—a striped sphere, vivid orange forms, and a dark figure resting on a table—each positioned with deliberate precision. The result feels theatrical without becoming narrative, inviting the viewer to linger without offering a fixed interpretation.

Morioka balances muted greys with carefully placed accents of orange, violet, and deep blue, creating a composition that is both restrained and unexpectedly luminous. The print rewards repeated viewing, as relationships between the forms gradually emerge and shift. It is an excellent example of the experimental direction taken by many Japanese printmakers during the late twentieth century, when traditional woodblock techniques were increasingly used to explore contemporary visual language.
