This elegant studio pottery bottle vase demonstrates the quiet confidence of postwar Japanese ceramic design. A deep, lustrous brown-black glaze provides the backdrop for a single expressive vertical sweep of iron-brown and pale crystalline glaze, creating a composition that feels both spontaneous and carefully balanced.

The restrained decoration allows the form itself to become the focus. Its elongated silhouette and narrow opening make it equally suitable as a functional flower vessel or as a sculptural object displayed on its own.
